The accommodation at Harlaxton College is dormitory style with most students housed in twin or triple bedded rooms. Bathroom facilities are shared and like our housing in general are maintained to a high standard.
Your room will be in either the Manor or the Carriage House, and each offers advantages. Each has a television lounge, a computer lab, full wireless network access, snack machines, pay phones, campus phones, refrigerators/kitchenettes and laundry.
The following galley offers some pictures of our facilities.
All students complete an online housing form when registering which assists us in matching students with roommates. While we aim to create good roommate matches, please understand that all successful relationships take time and effort. Be honest when you fill out your housing form. If you like to go to sleep early and sleep-in late, tell us. If you are really unorganized, that is okay – just don’t ask for a roommate that is organized!
With students from a variety of universities attending Harlaxton, we emphasize the importance of open communication and mutual respect regarding roommates. It is never easy to share personal space and this completely new atmosphere can affect your “normal way of living”…and then throw in people you’ve never met before!? The Student Development staff is always available to discuss any concerns related to housing.
Be honest. Be flexible. Be open to new experiences. The friendships you make while at Harlaxton can be very important. After all, how often will you study abroad and live in an English manor or carriage house?
The Dean of Students is responsible for all housing matters, including room assignments. Roommates will be assigned based on information received from your online housing form.
Harlaxton is not only an opportunity to study and travel abroad, but also to meet different people within and without the College. For this reason, students are often housed with students from different universities. Roommate requests are rarely, if ever, granted. Room assignments are not published until students arrive on campus.
As in other American universities, Harlaxton College selects a staff of Resident Assistants.
Every semester, the Student Development Office looks for energetic and caring students to join our Resident Assistant program.
RAs are usually the first people to be sought out when a student wishes to express concern or ask questions. Harlaxton RAs support the Student Development Office in a variety of areas and report directly to the Dean of Students. The position and responsibilities are comparable to those of RAs in other American universities.
